Kegan's First Christmas

This year for Christmas Nana and Papa John came into town. Kegan loved looking at all the Christmas decorations and tree. He seemed to be intrigued by the lights on the tree. Opening presents was fun too. Later that afternoon we had dinner with the Swick Family! Grandma and Grandpa Armold came to visit the week after christmas. It was great visiting with them!

Thanksgiving 2008

So I know it has been awhile since we last posted. Here are some quick updates-at Kegan's 4 month check up he weighed 16 lbs and was 26.5 inches long. At this point in time he can switch toys back and forth between his hands, sit up using the tri-pod, and can roll onto his side. He still fights tummy time so rolling all the way over has been a no go! We started him on solids- he loves squash and prunes. He also got his first tooth in at four and half months with the second one following close behind. It seems like everyday he is becoming more expressive and opinionated! For Thanksgiving this year we traveled to Gardnerville and spent time with Nana and Papa John. Kegan was able to meet alot of his great aunt and uncles as well as second and third cousins. We had a great time.

A Day at The Park With Mommy

Today we went to the park. The weather was nice and warm with a slight breeze. We set up a blanket underneath a tree and played with toys and read a few books. I took lots of pictures but only a couple turned out cute. Kegan loves the outside. He would stare up at the tree while the leaves were quaking and smile. He is beginning to grab for his toes and laugh a lot more these days. I can not believe he is almost four months old! We hope everyone has a great turkey day.

The Camping Trip That Did Not Happen

So over Veteran's Day weekend we decided to take Kegan out to the desert for some camping and hiking. We drove over to Anza Borrego Springs State Park in the afternoon and set up camp. The drive was beautiful. There is a lot of interesting vegetation out there and we could not wait to explore it. After we set up the tent we went for a small walk around the area (it was a little late to go for a long hike) and saw some cool plants and animal prints. The sunset looked like it was going to be amazing. When we got bakc to camp the wind had picked up a little so we bundled up. I actually ended up with four layers on by the end of our adventure. Kegan was a little trooper. He got a little fussy so we fed him and he took a short snooze. In the meantime, we decided to get things ready for dinner. Adrian had packed a bottle of wine to celebrate our first camping trip with the baby, but we forgot cups. Oh well not a big deal. (At this point the wind was a little stronger and the temps were dropping!) We started to pull out things for dinner but forgot to pack the can opener. That's okay we can have plain pasta. Started to heat the water, stove quit working! Have I mentioned yet how cold it was getting. We ate a granola bar and crawled into the tent. Kegan woke up and had a diaper explosion and was fussy. He was not cold but he did not want to stay in the tent. Then I began to worry that he would get cold while he was sleeping. He could not sleep between us because our tent was too small and I was afraid I had not packed enough warm blankets for him. Adrian got out of the tent to dispose of the dirty diaper and noticed everything outside was wet. The humidity had gone up! I decided that it was time to go (The boys were good-but I could not get warm and stop worrying about the baby). Adrian packed us up and we headed back home. The temp. meter in the car read 46 degrees. Burrr!! Even though we did not camp it was still a great adventure and we learned about some things that we would do differently next time. One thing with the Armold family is that it is always an adventure!

Kegan's First Halloween

Hello Everyone-life has been very busy lately which has left me little time to blog. Kegan had his first Halloween and he was dressed as a little pumpkin. I took him trick or treating with my sister and nephew. Of course he stayed in the jogger and looked around with amazement at all of the little ones and their costumes. He is three months now and growing like a weed. He found his voice at two and half months and enjoys singing to himself in the morning. The other evening he rolled over onto his back and laughed at himself. It was very cute. We feel very blessed to have such a good natured baby. He sleeps through the night (8-11 hours) and naps a little during the day. He loves being awake and playing with mommy during the day. We hope all is well and wish everyone a happy turkey day!

My first football game with Dad

Happy Football New Year! This weekend was Kegan's first football game with Daddy. And while Mommy is a Packer's Fan, Daddy and son watched with enthusiasm as the Bronco's took down the Raider Nation! Go Broncos!!!

Just an update!

So now Kegan is just over 1 month old and we are having a blast with him. We are still getting plenty of sleep in the evening, anywhere from 5-7 hours straight! He has hit many milestones: he smiles throughout the day (and no it is not just gas), holds his head up and looking from side to side for a few minutes at a time, soft coo sounds, sucking on his fists for soothing, tracks with his eyes from side to side, turns his head at sounds, wildly kicks his legs and waves his arms, and he his growing longer everyday it seems. At his two week wellness appointment he wieghed 9 lbs and 6.6 ounces and grew to 21 inches. Since then I am sure he has gained 2 lbs and grew another inche or so. We love being parents, they say you never really know love until you see yur child for the first time! After Kegan was born we had many visitors come to help out. The first was my mother, Carolyn, although she had to leave shortly after he was born (the little booger was a week late). And then came my other set of parents, Rick and Robbie. They had a great time getting to know Kegan and helping us out. After them, came Adrians folks, Mel and Anita. They also enjoyed seeing their first grandchild! We really apprectiated all the help, support, and love we got from all the grandparents. Thank you grandmas and grandpas, you are the best!
